Education and Clinical Experience

Dr. Raymond A. Capone Jr. earned his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. where he graduated in the top of his class and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors medical society. He attended highly sought-after residency programs at Tufts New England Medical Center (General Surgery) and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (Plastic Surgery). He authored several scientific articles and has presented papers at numerous plastic surgery conferences for audiences both in the United States and abroad.

Leadership

Dr. Capone has worked as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh for the past 27 years. During his tenure he has successfully managed a high profile and high-quality plastic surgery service, involving 22 plastic surgeons, for the benefit of the community. He is also the Founder and Medical Director of the Shadyside Surgi-Center, the first multispecialty, freestanding, fully licensed, and accredited ambulatory surgery facility in Pittsburgh. He also holds an academic position as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Raymond A. Capone Jr. has previously served as the President of the Greater Pittsburgh Plastic Surgery Society.
